IGF-1 DES 1mg Peptide
In stock
IGF-1 DES is supplied in a 1mg research vial. This truncated IGF-I analogue lacks three N-terminal amino acids and is studied for its reduced binding-protein affinity, making it useful in investigations of growth-factor availability and receptor responses.
IGF-1 DES and growth-factor availability
IGF-1 DES 1mg is des(1-3)IGF-I, a 67-amino-acid form of insulin-like growth factor I. Removing the first three residues from intact IGF-I changes its interaction with IGF-binding proteins while preserving activity at the type I IGF receptor.
Why the truncated structure is useful
Binding proteins help control the availability of IGF-I to cells. Because des(1-3)IGF-I binds them less strongly, researchers can use it to investigate how these proteins influence receptor activation and downstream biological responses.
In cultured rat granulosa cells, the analogue showed greater potency than intact IGF-I when binding proteins were present, and similar potency when they were depleted. This provides a clear example of how the surrounding biological environment shapes an apparent potency difference.
Cell growth and tissue studies
The research literature also discusses cell proliferation and anabolic responses in animal tissues, including the gut. These findings make IGF-1 DES relevant to studies of growth signalling, tissue turnover and binding-protein regulation. Potency remains model-dependent, and these experimental outcomes do not establish muscle-building or recovery benefits in humans.
DES IGF-1 is structurally different from both intact IGF-I and IGF-1 LR3, an important distinction when selecting and interpreting research literature.
